- 3-2-1
1. Auction
One of my favorites and the best variation of Teen Patti is Auction! Every player receives three cards and two additional piles of three cards are placed on the table. Out of the cards received, one of them is open and two face down.
The open cards on the table are to act as Jokers. Players place a bid assuming the open card as Joker unless they think they have a better hand. This continues till all cards have been bought and then the game continues as per the rules of traditional Teen Patti.
2. Joker Hunt
In this Teen Patti Variation, the dealer deals 3 cards each to all players and opens up some cards on the table too. The cards on the table are two times the number of players plus 3. For example, if 4 players are playing, the number of cards will be (4×2+3) 11 cards.
Before starting the game, each player has to discard one of their own cards and pick one from the table. Picking and discarding is however a choice. If a player decides to not discard, they must turn one card on the table upside down.
There will be 2 rounds of this after which only three open cards must be left on the table. These three cards act as jokers and the game continues.
3. Kiss-Miss-Bliss
An interesting name for a 5 card game! Under this Teen Patti variation, players are dealt 5 cards and they can put two cards together to create a joker card. The jokers can be ‘kiss’, ‘miss’ or ‘bliss’.
- Two cards of the same value will make up a Kiss.
- Two cards with one missing to form a sequence will make up a Miss.
- Two consecutive cards will make up a Bliss.
Once any of the three jokers has been created, players must discard extra cards and begin the round with only two cards and one joker. You must still discard two cards if none of your cards lends themselves to making a joker.
4. Muflis
Been getting bad cards? This Teen Patti variation would be good for you. The rules for this variation are simple. The player with the lowest hand wins. When you play Muflis, the lowest card is the highest and the highest the lowest.
Under this variation, only the hand ranks change. Everything else is the same as traditional Teen Patti. In case two players with the same hand are left on the table, the one with the lowest card wins.
5. 999
This Teen Patti Variation aims to reach as close to the number 9-9-9. The suits are irrelevant here and royal cards are valued at zero. The valuation for numbered cards (2-9) remains the same. For example, if you get 4-K-A, you have 401 which isn’t very close to 9-9-9.
Changing the order of your cards is not allowed in this variation.
6. Rotating Jokers
Each player is dealt with three cards, one open and two facing down. The open card can have any value and acts as the player’s own joker.
Every time a player folds, their joker card becomes everyone else’s joker card. The remaining players now use this card to form hands.
7. Buying Jokers Seen and Unseen
Players receive three cards and it is followed by two rounds of buying jokers in this Teen Patti Variation. A pre-agreed amount needs to be paid by the players and this amount is placed in the pot. A player can purchase a joker card from another player for the same amount agreed upon before the game begins.
If somebody does this, it gets into the pot as well, so those players will have to pay twice. The first-round joker is maintained, but it is shared with the player who purchases it in the second round. The game then continues until a winner is determined.
8. Lallan Kallan
In this Teen Patti Variation, you are dealt with three cards, the card with a different colour becomes your joker. In case all of your three cards are the same colour you must fold. For example, if you have two red cards and one black card, the black card will be your joker.
9. One-Eyed Jack
This Teen Patti Variation is rather simple. Jack of Hearts and Jack of Spades become one-eyed jacks and act as jokers.
If you are wondering why not Jack of Clubs and Diamonds, it is because these cards can see two eyes.
10. 3-2-1
The final Teen Patti Variation I have for you is 3-2-1. Each player is dealt with six cards, and these cards need to be arranged into three separate hands. One hand has three cards, one has two cards and the last has one card.
The game begins with betting on the first set of hands. After the first round is over, the betting is done on second hand and then on third for the third round. One who winds 2 out of 3 rounds, wins. If no player wins two or more rounds, the game begins again.
Conclusion
Although there are nearly 40 variations for the Teen Patti game, the ones I mentioned today are the most interesting one. If you’re not very familiar with the rules of basic Teen Patti, I would suggest going through them before you play these variations. Make sure to try one these next time you’re Teen Patti-ing!
